N
Nakkals

CAPTION

Nakkal in tamil cinema was given a new dimensions by the kovai gang, manivannan, Sathyaraj koundamai & co. Don’t ask me what this picture has to do with nakkal…. he he he…(kumudan types jollu). Parthiban also vies for the top spot for the “nakkal thilagam” . Other nakkals thilagam's include Solomon Paappayya, Vivek , vadivelu are from Madurai….Leoni from Dindigul.

In Tamil nadu, which district people has more sense of humour?? I hope its defintely not Chennai. I think we need to get into separate discussion for this, with some vattara mozhi experts !!

O
O-Podu

CAPTION

This already popular college slang was immortalized by the song in Gemini
Intha paata eluthina mahaan yaarunnu theriyala, most probably it will be Vali. Whoever it is, ellarum oru “O” podunga!!

If the O is separated from the O-Podu, then it gives a dangerous meaning !! If you want to know that dangerous meaning, recollect Gilli movie and our Thanga thalavi Trisha's marvelous piece of Kuthattam for the ever green song from Apdi Podu Podu...

P
Parrot – Pachai
CAPTION This parrot, is used mostly used as a metaphor (uvamai) to describe the beauty of a girl
e.g. Ponnu kili mathiri irukaa
another known usage ( read in sivaji style)
e.g kilikku rekkai molaichiduthu….paranthu poiduthu

Remember a movie was made ‘kili pechu ketka va’ with mamooty and kuthira-moonchi kanaga….. Another notable usage of is the word Cleaner (lorry drivers’ assistant) is cut short and referred to as Kili. Namma makkaloda mozhi pulamaiku oru alave kidyaathu paa….

Pachai
CAPTION

Literally means Green( pachai nirame pachai nirame - alaipayuthe) and so used to describe things which are raw e.g pacha thanni
e.g avan vaaya thoranthaale pacha pachaya thaan vaarthai varum ( simple means a foul mouthed guy)
After a rape scene in village, the girl’s mother yells at the minor
Enna ponnu pacha mannu da, atha pazh aakitiyee..nee urupadiviya !!

Q
Quarter

CAPTION

This is the first and foremost word in every tamil kudimagan’s dictionary (no references to the ex-minister).
e.g machi weekend enna plan ?
enna vazhkam pola…quarter adichittu kuppura paduka vendiyathu thaan

CAPTION

This so called quarter has a strong relation with kozhi biriyani
this combination of quarter and kozhi biriyani is used to kannkufying items.
The character of Quarter Govindu is a famous is tamil movies and best played by the duo of Sathyaraj and Gounder

R
Ravadi

Ravadi is equivalent to imsai done at a higher level. Used when you want to refer some kind of irritable characters e.g avanoda sariyaana ravadi da… folks from madras, will be able to explain this term in detail

S
Super (Soopper)

CAPTION Technically correct meanings for super are ‘of the highest quality’, ‘extremely large’ (thanks to wordweb). It can be a short form of the complete word ‘superlative’. We, tamilians like to use this adjective to describe anything and everything…. from a simple chocolate bar, a movie, to a really beautiful figure. In fact the stress on the letter O elongates and stress on P increase to intensify the quality of the thing under discussion.

e.g Machi..blue chudithaar…super figure da….
e.g maapla, kalyaana saapadu super da…innoru round polaama ??

CAPTION
We can say everybody in Tamilnadu, knows this word, from nandu chindu..to thondu kizhams, thanks to the one and only superstar.
" super star yarunnu ketta ..chinna kulanthayum sollum…."
Click here for the complete list of rajini movies . Eagerly waiting for Shivaji, thalaiva seekiram relase pannunga !!

Saniyan

CAPTION

Saturn is my favorite planet in school days, since it has a ring which makes it really heavenly. Hope they don't remove this also from the planet list, as they did for Pluto.

The God Saneeshwaran (fondly saniyan) has a special place in the Nava Graha Sannithi in any of CAPTIONthe Hindu temples. People usually worship god to show mercy to them and shower their looks upon them. On a contrary, people worship Sani Bhagvan and request him not to look upon them and to stay away from them as far as possible.
