Ambalai Singam !!

The Lion is my favorite among other animals of the wild, so i dedicate this blog to the king of the wild . (ethuku thaan dedication innu vivasthai illa pochu...sari...sari...)

From time immemorial, lion has been a symbol of courage, pride, power and all desirable qualities. Undoubtedly, lion is the king of the forest, though there are much intelligent and powerful predators co-exist with our king. I am here to give wildlife lectures about lion, as you all will Discovery and Geographic channels at your homes

How frequent do you hear the phrase ‘aambalai singam”. Tamil movies play a major role in formulating the spoken language usage. I am pulling few leaves from Kollywood.

The phrases about tiger or cheetai are hardly used. What is the reason?
For example aambalai puli …a tiger is more intelligent and stronger than a lion…may bcoz’ the word ‘puli’ sounds like ‘ali’. In Virumaandi movie, Kamal says, "sandiyara kattikitta puli kutti porakum"; Annalakshmi replies back "enaku puli kutti ellam vendaa chaami, pull kutti pothum" Smart isn’t it?

Also, for that matter the phrase of ambalai siruthai. In fact Cheetah is like a formula 1 beast in the wild, which speeds up at 101 kmph under 6 seconds, but not more than 5 minutes continuously.

Lions Club - all lions in the town will meet here once in month, to play cards, smoke and booze.
